WQA Gold Seal Certified Products for Water Treatment

Airgas Specialty Products supplies ammonia to water treatment facilities nationally with products that are certified through the ANSI-accredited Water Quality Association’s (WQA) Gold Seal Program. Our products are certified to the NSF/ANSI/CAN 60 Standard for Drinking Water Treatment Chemicals – the nationally recognized standard for chemicals used to treat drinking water.

Public water supplies throughout the United States disinfect drinking water, significantly reducing water borne illnesses such as typhoid fever, dysentery and cholera. Many water treatment facilities are using chloramine to disinfect water supplies. Chloramine is formed by combining chlorine with ammonia under controlled conditions.

Chloramine vs. Chlorine

1. Chloramines last longer than chlorine, offering consistent bacterial control
2. Chloramines may improve the efficacy of chlorine, resulting in reduced chlorine use
3. Chloramines do not form THM’s (trihalomethanes), known carcinogens regulated by the EPA
4. Chloramines improve the taste and odor of drinking water
